NYC Trip Response

Good day guys and gals, hope all is well and your transition back to MHS went smoothly.  Thanks for your collective understanding about Andrew and I heading to Philadelphia.  Anyway, I would like you to post your reactions to the trip.  If you would feel more comfortable posting anonymously, that is fine, but I would like your honest review.  Please include what you liked about the trip and what you didn't and if there are any suggestions of how to make it better.  While thinking about your response, here are a few things to jog your memory:

The van ride, the Holyoke Mall, the Hostel, the subway, Chicago, wandering around Times Square, Breakfast at Toms, The class on stock Analysis, the tour of the Museum of American Finance, the food court at the South Street Seaport, the ferry to Staten Island, The walk around Wall Street including the Bull, the Federal Reserve Bank, Canal Street, Shopping at Rockefeller Center/34th St, Roaming and Dinner in Times Square, staying up until 4 AM will the Aussie, the morning walk in Central Park, the ride home (with George).

  1. I loved the trip. It was a great experience to have as my first trip to NYC. I felt like we saw and learned a lot. My favorite parts were Chicago, Times Square both times, the Staten Islnad Ferry, and Canal Street. (I get to the have the great experience of meeting the Aussie and stay up that late.)Although those were my favorite I really enjoyed all of it. I never was bored or disappointed in what we were doing. I felt that there was a good balance of free time, learning time, and group activities. I think that Castle did a great job putting this trip together and choosing great chaperones, such as Nancy and Miles. Everything was successful in my mind and I was very pleased with my first trip to New York City. Thank you so much Mr. Castle!

  2. The trip was wonderful. I don't think I really would have changed anything honestly. I really enjoyed the play. Times Square of course was amazing, and getting the time to ourselves to explore was great. Honestly I thought that the class on stock analysis would be a bit boring but I actually found it quite interesting and it definitely helped me understand more. The tour of the museum was okay - not my highlight of the trip - but it was interesting. The tour guide was just a bit eh. The Federal Reserve Bank was great and I thought it was so cool to be able to see the gold bricks and the security that goes into protecting the gold. Everything was great. I honestly really enjoyed the trip. Thank you so much Mr. Castle for trusting us! It was a great trip.

  3. Hi Mr. Castle-I thought the trip was excellent. It provided a nice slice of New York City because it was so well balanced. The trip to the Federal Reserve, the class on analyzing a stock, and the tour of the Museum of American Finance all played in nicely with what we have learned in class. However, just walking around Wall Street and through Times Square allowed a glimpse of our economy beyond what we've learned through movies and readings. It was neat to see where most of our economic activity actually takes place. The economic activities were very well balanced with free time and other activities. Chicago was amazing, and walking through China Town and Times Square at night was unlike anything we could do in Vermont. The whole trip was fantastic- the chaperones, Ronnie’s card tricks, walking through central park, etc. I’m so grateful that this could take place. I wouldn’t change anything; I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you!

  4. New York City was amazing! It was so interesting to see exactly where all the things we talked about in class occurred. I definitely learned a lot about finance. It was also fascinating to see the contrast between the different areas of New York. Each offered its own unique experiences, so I am glad we got to visit so many places. My favorites were probably Time Square and the Financial District. I also enjoyed Chicago, shopping, and the wonderful food. Thank you so much for all your time and planning. I would keep the trip exactly the same because it was so much fun!

  5. Mr. Castle- I could not have asked for a more fun trip! It would be totally lame of me to just say that I loved it all, but it's true. There wasn't a single aspect of the trip that I didn't enjoy. The show, Times Square, the Fed, the ferry, Canal street, the hostel, everything was fabulous! The only thing I wish we could have done was stay longer! But in a short two days, we did so much and an amazing time in the Big Apple. Thank you so much for an awesome and fun-packed trip!!

  6. The trip was awesome! It was the perfect balance of school-oriented stuff and NYC stuff! It was a great first trip to NYC for me, and you handled the city like a pro. I was going to try to focus on one topic, but then reading through your above list, I realized that I really enjoyed them all. Seriously, it was a perfectly rounded trip. By far the best field trip I've ever been on!

  7. I had a lot of fun on the trip, the only thing that was a tad boring was how to analyze a stock, but I can see how that can be useful, and that we needed to maybe have another "educational" part on the trip. The rest of the trip was just awesome, I liked how much responsibility you gave us, it was really cool that you trusted us all enough to let us roam around Time Square. It was a great trip, thanks!

  8. I enjoyed the trip quite a lot. My favorite thing was visiting the federal reserve bank, although the ferry was definitely close. Other then the wake-up times, I cant think of anything that needed improvement. Thanks for taking us!

  9. I thought the trip was great. I most enjoyed the stuff around Wall Street including the Fed and Stock lesson was informative. The Ferry ride was a nice break, and the show was very enjoyable. The only I thing I would change is the amount of time spend in Times Square. I didn't really feel the second night necessary, and maybe would have enjoyed walking around a more unique neighborhood more. But I still enjoyed myself there, and I realize that's a big thing for people who have spent less time in the city. The walk in the park was nice, and I especially appreciated how accommodating you were to all of the issues that came up with me. Thanks, so much.

  10. Boss,
I had a great time on the trip. The car rides both ways were the most fun but I also had fun in the city. I never knew George had such a high pitch singing voice... Going to China town was pretty dope as well as Times Square. The stock class was very interesting and I found it to be very helpful. I basically enjoyed the whole trip. I appreciate you putting so much trust in to us and taking us on the trip. Thanks again.

  11. NYC was a fantastic trip. A great mixture of education and free time. The drive over was smooth and the hostel was nice. I honestly was expecting a much worse hostel like the one from last years music trip but this one was very nice. Walking around the city and learning not just about economics but little bits of history here and there was like an added bonus. Chicago was fun, the ferry was fun, hanging out with everyone was fun, and the education was fun. The gold museum was my favorite. I thought it was so cool we were able to see the gold and learning about the security system.
The way you trusted us to take care of ourselves made this trip better than most. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

  12. I absolutely enjoyed the NYC Trip. I liked that we stayed at the Hostel because we met other people not from the city. It was also good bonding time.I can not believe we stood there for only a couple of days and covered so much of New York. The only thing I would probably ask for is a longer trip for exploring. But I definitely appreciated the freedom you gave us as well as the Fed and Broadway show. Thanks for trusting us!
